Everyday warm-ups

• What was the best part of your day — and the hardest?
• What made you laugh today?
• What's something that went better than you expected?
• Who did something kind for you today?
• What's something you're looking forward to tomorrow?

Get them thinking

• If you could instantly be an expert at one thing, what would it be?
• What's a rule in our family you'd change if you could?
• If we could take one trip anywhere together, where would we go?
• What would you do with a completely free Saturday?
• What's something you believe that most people don't?

For the whole table (kids to grandparents)

Go a little deeper

You don't need all fifty at once. Pick one, ask it, and actually listen to the answer instead of waiting to talk. Do that a few nights a week and the dinner table stops being logistics and starts being the place your family knows each other.
